Tom Llewellyn is a community organizer, consultant and storyteller who promotes people-centered solutions for the common good. He is the Director of Strategic Partnerships for Shareable.net, Executive Producer and Host of the award-winning documentary and podcast series “The Response”, a sought-after presenter who has spoken at over 200 events on five continents, and the co -editor and author of several publications, including “Sharing Cities: Activating the Urban Commons” (2018), “The Response: Building Collective Resilience in the Wake of Disasters” (2019) and “Lessons from the First Wave: Resilience in the Age of COVID- 19″ (2020). One of his favorite activities is hosting community “Stone Soup” events wherever he travels to help remind people how good sharing can be! Previously, Tom was the director of education and activism for the Sustainable Living Roadshow, co-directed the organization of tours across the United States for 5 years, producing events and ecological actions promoting environmental, social and economic sustainability. He co-founded several community-based and sharing initiatives, including: A PLACE for a sustainable life, Asheville Tool Library, TRUE Cooperative (Regenerative Education, Action & Leadership), and the worker collective Critter Cafe. Tom holds a degree in Mind/body studies from San Francisco State University and a Permaculture Design Certificate from EAT. Prior to becoming a full-time community organizer, he was co-owner/director of Clever Scamp (arts and ecology) summer camp, director of the Canyon After School program, and paid for his college education by working as a certified massage therapist. and a professional party starter. Tom currently lives in the “semi-autonomous unintended community” where he grew up. On the outskirts of the San Francisco Bay Area, he co-leads disaster preparedness, mitigation and response activities, is a member of two water cooperatives, facilitates community meetings, organizes social events (physically distant) and raises vegetables and rabbits with his wife Ellie.
